Clinton Armfield

Clinton brings a decade of experience in audit and assurance. He works with both public and privately held businesses, specializing in the mining and exploration, real estate and construction, and technology sectors. 

Prior to joining Smythe in 2023, Clinton gained extensive experience in South Africa, where he led year-end audits in accordance with IFRS, CAS, and US GAAP. His career highlights include designing and implementing a revenue testing approach for one of South Africa’s largest hospital groups, resolving a long-standing audit challenge while delivering full assurance under budget. He also supported one of the country’s largest mining companies with the implementation of IFRS 16, ensuring a smooth and compliant transition. 

At Smythe, Clinton has worked on engagements involving a multinational group of mining companies and a SaaS music streaming platform. He is also involved in developing audit templates and enhancing automation processes, including VBA-based journal entry selection. 

Clinton holds a Bachelor of Accounting Sciences (2015) and a Postgraduate Diploma in Accounting (2016) from the University of the Witwatersrand and obtained his CA (SA) designation in 2020.
