Ben Capps

Ben is a Partner in Smythe’s Accounting & Assurance Group, where he provides assurance, advisory, and tax compliance services to privately held businesses and individuals. He leads Smythe’s Real Estate & Construction Niche Group and works primarily with clients in the real estate, construction, and forestry industries. 

He joined Smythe in 2011 after spending six years with a national accounting firm. Over the course of his career, he has worked with a diverse range of privately held entities, from small businesses to groups with annual revenues of over $500 million. His experience includes shareholder compensation planning, divestitures and acquisitions, financing arrangements, and corporate reorganizations. He has assisted clients with the purchase and sale of privately held companies and tax-efficient restructuring of corporate groups, including the use of family trusts and private foundations. 

Ben received his Bachelor of Business Administration from Thompson Rivers University before obtaining his Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA, CA) designation. Active in his community, he serves as Treasurer of Heritage BC and as a Director for the North Shore Community Foundation. 

Outside of work, he enjoys skiing and leading an active lifestyle.
