Gustavo Franca

As Smythe’s Director of Quality, Gustavo provides leadership and support across the firm, overseeing quality improvement and monitoring programs, internal control structures, and learning initiatives. With a strong background in audit and assurance services, Gustavo draws on his extensive experience across diverse industries to guide engagement teams on complex accounting and auditing matters. Passionate about professional development, he leads Smythe’s learning strategy and facilitates firmwide training on quality, assurance, and accounting topics. 

Before relocating to Vancouver, Gustavo built a successful career with a global accounting firm in Brazil after graduating from Rio de Janeiro State University. He later earned an MBA from the Brazilian Institute of Capital Markets and obtained his CPA designation in 2021, following nearly two decades in public practice. 

Gustavo volunteers with the Audit and Assurance Standards Board (AASB), contributing to the working group for audits of Less Complex Entities (LCE). He is also active in his community through his involvement with Star of the Sea Catholic Parish. Outside of work, Gustavo is a proud father of two daughters and enjoys an active lifestyle, including running, biking, and playing tennis.
