Maggie Puhacz
Maggie is a Partner at Smythe and a member of the firm’s Canadian Tax Group. She joined the partnership in 2018 and specializes in Canadian tax, M&A advisory, and estate and trust services for privately held businesses and individuals. She also leads Smythe’s People & Culture department, overseeing talent development and organizational strategy, and is a member of the firm’s Technology Niche Group. 
 
Maggie provides strategic guidance on tax planning, succession, reorganizations, and M&A transactions ranging from $10 to $100 million in valuation. She works with clients across a variety of industries, including technology, real estate and construction, property and casualty (P&C) insurance, and professional services, delivering practical solutions and trusted advice. 
Maggie earned her Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA, CA) designation in 2009 and completed the In-Depth Tax Program in 2011 through the Chartered Professional Accountants of British Columbia. Maggie also sits on the Board of the Association of Women in Finance (AWF) and is a member of the Canadian Tax Foundation and WEL Vancouver.

- Guided succession planning for a $100 million group with non-resident beneficiaries and foreign assets
- Led corporate reorganizations involving $60 million in assets
- Provided compensation planning strategies, including stock option arrangements
- Oversaw acquisitions and divestitures with both foreign and domestic buyers, including:- A divestiture from an existing partner in a business valued at $30 million
- The divestiture of a business division valued at $35 million
