Sindy Wong
Sindy is a Partner at Smythe and leads the firm’s Canadian Tax Group. She specializes in tax advisory services for privately held businesses, estates and trusts, and works with clients across diverse industries, ranging from real estate and construction to property and casualty (P&C) insurance and technology.
Practicing tax since 2003, Sindy brings a broad perspective from her time at a Big Four accounting firm and as an in-house tax manager for an international public company. She was admitted to the partnership at Smythe in 2015 and is recognized for her ability to deliver practical, tailored tax solutions as a trusted advisor to clients navigating complex planning and compliance matters.
Sindy earned her Chartered Accountant (CPA, CA) designation in 2004 and has completed CPA Canada’s In-Depth Tax Program (2005), In-Depth International Tax (2007), and In-Depth Corporate Reorganizations (2009). She is also a member of the Canadian Tax Foundation.
Recent Projects & Experience
- Structured the sale of a business to a foreign entity with an estimated transaction value of $130 million, including post-sale tax planning for the vendors
- Advised on post-mortem tax planning for individuals holding corporate interests with significant market value
- Provided estate planning strategies for multi-generational family-owned businesses
- Guided technology companies through corporate reorganizations to support growth and succession planning
