Smythe Announces the Promotion of 10 Managers and One Principal

VANCOUVER, BC – Smythe LLP (Smythe) is pleased to announce the promotion of 11 individuals.
Our New Principal:
Aliya Goldan, CPA, CA, joined Smythe in 2016. Prior to joining Smythe, she worked at a national public accounting firm as a Senior Tax Manager. Aliya specializes in personal and corporate tax planning for privately-owned companies across various industries. Her areas of expertise include corporate reorganizations, estate and succession planning.
Our New Senior Managers:
Karen Cheng, CPA, joined Smythe in 2013 and specializes in providing accounting, assurance and advisory services to public and private companies in a variety of industries including mining, technology, retail and pension plans. In addition to being a member of the Firm’s Standards Group, Pension Industry Group, Technology Industry Group and Training Committee, Karen is active in student mentoring and development.
Scott Goodrich, CPA, joined Smythe in 2014 and is primarily focused on providing accounting, assurance and tax advisory services to both private companies and not-for-profit organizations in various industries, including manufacturing, technology, hospitality, and real estate. Scott is also the lead manager for the private company and not-for-profit audit team. He is also an active member of both the Standards Group and Lean 6 Sigma team.
Our New Managers:
Alex Anderson, CPA, joined Smythe in 2017 and focuses primarily on providing accounting, assurance and taxation services to private companies and non-profit organizations in a variety of sectors, including real estate, automotive and manufacturing. Alex is active in the staff development, coaching and providing in-house training.
Saba Chaudhry, CPA, joined Smythe in 2018 and obtained her CPA designation in 2020. She specializes in servicing privately-owned corporations with a focus on owner-managed businesses across a variety of industries. Saba is active in in-house training and staff development as well as CPA student mentoring.
Scott Kennedy, CPA, joined Smythe’s Canadian Tax Group in 2019 after previously working at a national firm. His focus is on providing tax compliance and planning services for individuals, trusts and corporations.
Laura Kwan, CPHR, joined Smythe in 2016 and is responsible for working with staff across all levels and offices and provides HR support that aligns with the Firm’s strategic goals, vision and values. She is also focused on delivering HR business solutions that attract, develop and retain top talent.
Kiki Lee, CPA, joined Smythe in 2016 and obtained her CPA designation in 2019. She focuses primarily on providing accounting, assurance and taxation services to private companies and owner-managed businesses in the professional services, insurance, and manufacturing sectors. Kiki is also active in staff development, coaching and recruitment.
Shelby Neil, CPA, joined Smythe in 2016 and specializes in providing accounting, assurance, and advisory services to public and private companies across various industries, but mainly focuses on the technology and retail sectors. She is also active in student mentorship and staff development.
Sherry Shi, CPA, joined Smythe in 2017 and specializes in providing accounting and tax services to privately-owned companies and partnerships, mainly in the real estate and construction industry. Sherry is also active in staff development, providing in-house training and is a member of the Firm’s Real Estate and Construction Industry Group.
Lauren Smirnov, CPA, joined Smythe in 2016 and primarily focuses on providing accounting, assurance and advisory services for not-for-profit organizations and private companies in a variety of industries. She actively participates in staff development, the Lean 6 Sigma team and the Not-for-Profit Group.
