Smythe Announces the Promotion of Several Managers

VANCOUVER, BC – Smythe LLP (Smythe) is pleased to announce the promotion of 11 individuals.
Our new senior managers:
Gagan Ahluwalia, CPA, CBV, joined Smythe in 2013 before moving over to Smythe’s Advisory team in 2017. His primary focus is providing M&A transaction advisory and corporate valuation services for private company clients operating across a broad range of industries.
Michael Ng, CPA, CA, joined Smythe in 2018 and is primarily focused on providing accounting, assurance and tax advisory services to both not-for-profit organizations and private companies in various industries, including real estate, professional services and technology.
Heroshi Tada, CPA, CA, joined Smythe in 2018 after spending seven years at a mid-sized accounting firm in Vancouver. He specializes in providing assurance services to public and private companies in a variety of sectors, including mining, technology and manufacturing.
Our new managers:
Terence Chan, CPA, joined the Firm in 2016 and obtained his CPA designation in 2019. He focuses primarily on providing accounting, assurance and taxation services to private companies and ownermanaged businesses in the real estate, professional services and manufacturing sectors. Within the Firm, Terence is active in staff development, coaching and providing in-house training.
Kay Lac, CPA, joined the Firm in 2016 and specializes in working with privately-owned companies, mainly in the real estate and construction industry, as well as owner-managed businesses across a variety of industries. Kay is also active in campus recruitment, staff development, providing in-house training and is a member of the Firm’s Real Estate and Construction Industry Group.
Samantha Luo, CPA, joined Smythe’s Canadian Tax Group in January 2018 after previously working at a national firm. Her focus is on providing tax compliance and planning for private and owner-managed businesses, including corporations, trusts, sole proprietorships and foreign companies operating in Canada.
Emily McCune, CPA, joined Smythe in 2016 and specializes in providing accounting, assurance and advisory services to public and private companies across various industries, but mainly focuses on the technology and retail sectors. Emily is also active in staff development and conducts in-house training programs.
Erniza Ong, CPA, joined Smythe in 2016 as part of the Firm’s merger with J. Wells & Co. She is primarily focused on Canadian and US personal taxation services, with a specialty in providing cross-border income tax planning and compliance to US citizens and residents living or working in Canada, as well as individuals who are moving to or working in the US.
Bianka Pecka, CPA, joined the Firm in 2016 and is focused on providing accounting, assurance and advisory services to public and private companies in a variety of sectors, including mining, manufacturing, technology and mobile communications.
Matthew Traher, CPA, CA, joined the Firm in 2019, having obtained his CA designation in 2015. He is primarily focused on providing accounting, advisory and tax services to privately-owned companies and partnerships. Within the Firm, Matthew is also involved in staff development and coaching.
Sally Tsai joined Smythe in 2006 and works primarily with private companies. As manager, Sally will lead the Firm’s Cloud Accounting Group. In addition, Sally is also a certified QuickBooks Online ProAdvisor.
