Smythe Promotes Four Managers From Advisory and Canadian Tax Teams

VANCOUVER, BC, January 12, 2023 – Smythe LLP is pleased to announce the promotions of the following four individuals, effective January 1, 2023, based on outstanding and significant contributions to our firm:

• Javier Tam-Huang, Senior Manager – Advisory
• Kevin Tong, Senior Manager – Canadian Tax
• Nandalal Patel, Manager – Advisory
• Nereus Leung, Manager – Advisory

Javier joined Smythe’s Advisory practice in 2020 to focus on providing business valuation solutions, particularly in the context of mergers and acquisitions, tax reorganizations, management buyouts, succession planning, litigation support, fairness opinions, financial modelling, etc. Javier has a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from the British Columbia Institute of Technology. He successfully attained his Chartered Business Valuation designation in 2020.

A member of Smythe’s Canadian Tax group since 2020, Kevin provides a variety of tax advisory and tax compliance services to privately held and owner-managed businesses. He graduated from the University of British Columbia with a Bachelor of Commerce in 2014 and obtained his CPA designation in 2017. He is also a member of the Canadian Tax Foundation. Prior to Smythe, he worked for over six years at a mid-sized firm in Vancouver.

Nandalal has been with Smythe since 2017, first as a member of Smythe’s Audit and Assurance practice for almost three years (focusing on real estate, retail, manufacturing and technology) and then as a member of the firm’s Advisory practice. He has a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration (Honours) and a Graduate Diploma in Accounting, both from the Ivey Business School at Western University in 2015. Nandalal attained his CPA designation in 2018 and is currently pursuing his Chartered Business Valuator designation.

Nereus joined Smythe in 2021 as part of the Advisory practice where he focuses on divestitures in the property and casualty insurance industries, carrying out business valuations, financial due diligence, financial modeling and other requirements in the mergers and acquisition space. Nereus is a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) Charterholder and holds a Post-baccalaureate Certificate in Applied Business Management from the University of Manitoba. Prior to joining Smythe, he worked in the corporate finance departments of various companies in Hong Kong across a range of industries.
