Smythe Announces the Promotion of Seven Managers and Four Principals
VANCOUVER, BC, September 4, 2024 – Smythe LLP is pleased to announce the promotion of twelve members of staff, effective September 1, 2024.
Donna Lee, CPA, CA, has been promoted to Principal – Accounting & Assurance – Privco. Donna joined Smythe in 2012 and provides assurance, advisory and tax services to private companies in various industries, including real estate, retail, hospitality and investment. Within Smythe, Donna is a team coordinator for the private company assurance group and is active in staff mentoring and development.
Edmund Chow, CPA, CGA, has been promoted to Principal – Canadian Tax. He joined Smythe in 2016. Edmund specializes in tax compliance and planning for private companies and owner-managers in various industries. He works closely with his clients by implementing tax strategies suited to their needs.
Emily Mahannah, CPA, CA, has been promoted to Principal – Canadian Tax. Emily joined Smythe in 2008 and works with a variety of clients including professional partnerships, family trusts, large corporations, and owner-managed businesses. She also helps privately held businesses and individuals with cross-border investments. Emily is also actively involved with technology improvement, process standardization, and template generation within Smythe.
Yolanda Chow, CPA, CGA, has been promoted to Principal – Accounting & Assurance – Langley. Yolanda joined Smythe’s Langley team in 2023, providing accounting, assurance, and advisory services to individuals and owner-managed businesses and specializing in a variety of industries including, but not limited to, real estate and construction and professional services. At Smythe, Yolanda is passionate about being involved with campus recruitment and staff mentorship.
Kiki Lee, CPA, has been promoted to Senior Manager – Accounting & Assurance – Audit. Kiki joined Smythe in 2016 and primarily focuses on providing accounting, assurance and advisory services to private companies in various industries. She specializes in the real estate, manufacturing, lumber, and agriculture industries. At Smythe, Kiki is active in staff development, providing in-house training and recruitment support.
Sherry Shi, CPA, has been promoted to Senior Manager – Accounting & Assurance – Privco. Sherry joined Smythe in 2017. She is primarily focused on providing accounting, review, compilation, tax compliance and advisory services to privately-owned companies and partnerships. She specializes mainly in the real estate and construction industry.
Nicholas Chan, CPA, has been promoted to Manager – Canadian Tax. Nicholas joined Smythe in 2021. He primarily works with privately held businesses, individuals, and trusts and estates. At Smythe, Nicholas is involved in annual training for tax compliance, and mentoring junior tax staff.
Eddy Oulton, CPA, has been promoted to Manager – Accounting & Assurance – Langley. He joined Smythe in 2019. Eddy mainly works with privately held companies and not-for-profit audits. At Smythe he is involved with volunteering, recruitment support, and mentorship.
Jenny Vu, CPA, has been promoted to Manager – Accounting & Assurance – Privco. She joined Smythe in 2020. Jenny works mainly with privately held companies from various industries and is also involved in accounting and assurance (CFI, review engagements, and tax returns). Jenny is also active in recruitment support, training and mentorship at Smythe.
Jun Son, CPA, has been promoted to Manager – Accounting & Assurance – Langley He joined Smythe in 2019. Jun specializes in various industries such as real estate and construction, manufacturing, forestry and logging. Jun also plays an active role in the mentorship of new hires at Smythe.
Sourabh Gupta, CPA, has been promoted to Manager – Accounting & Assurance – Privco. He joined Smythe in 2022. Sourabh primarily works with privately held businesses and individuals, and is involved with assurance and tax compliance services. At Smythe he specializes in real estate and construction, personal real estate corporations, professionals (such as lawyers and doctors), and private enterprises. Within the firm, Sourabh plays an active role in training new accountants, the mentorship of junior staff members, as well as student recruitment initiatives.
