Tom is a seasoned Chartered Professional Accountant and a General Income Tax Practitioner with expertise in executive compensation, particularly deferred income plans, registered pension plans and employee stock option plans. He has considerable knowledge in succession planning and structuring businesses to facilitate the transition of ownership.
Tom is a long standing member of the Canadian Tax Foundation and has published papers including “Tax Issues in Compensation” and “Don’t Forget GAAP as Part of Your Tax Planning” with former Smythe Partner Bob Cole.
Outside of work, Tom enjoys running in the Vancouver Sun Run with co-workers and competing in half marathons. He also enjoys hiking and boating when sunny weather permits.
